About ShortCut

ShortCut is Germany's largest community for video editing and motion design — a hybrid of academy, network, and career ecosystem for editors.

What is ShortCut?

ShortCut combines structured education, an active community, and direct practical exposure for aspiring and professional editors. The focus is on high-end editing, motion graphics, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and modern workflows that actually run in agencies and commercial productions.

Unlike traditional online courses, we don't see ourselves as just a learning platform — we're a career ecosystem for editors. Members build skills, get feedback from the scene, connect with established creators, and find real projects and paid work through the network.

The community

Over 1,500 active editors, motion designers, and well-known creators from the German-speaking scene meet daily on our premium Discord. That makes ShortCut the largest dedicated German-speaking editing community of its kind.

Regular live calls with established industry figures and artists open up real workflows — not polished studio demos, but the actual tools, shortcuts, and decisions behind shipped projects.

Learning & mentoring

Over 30 hours of exclusive, practical tutorials for professional software — structured to build on each other, from fundamentals through advanced compositing:

• Adobe After Effects — motion design, animation, effects, templates
• DaVinci Resolve — editing, color, Fairlight, delivery
• Fusion — node-based compositing and VFX
• Workflows from agencies, commercial production, and social-media editing

From tutorial to paid project

Who's behind ShortCut?

ShortCut is operated by ShortCut Editing UG, based in Berlin, founded by Lukas Mascher (Creative Director). The team comes from the Berlin editing and motion-design scene and also runs the agency sce.marketing.
